Delivering ground source heat pumps through CF21 and CF25

Tapping into the thermal energy beneath our feet to deliver highly efficient heating and cooling, ground source heat pumps represent the best solution for schools over the long term.

The Construction Framework 2021 (CF21) and 2025  (CF25) are supporting investment in new and refurbished schools across England. For Tier 1 contractors Kensa provides the specialist ground source expertise needed to take a system from early design through to installation, providing technoeconomic support to tendering and bid teams as standard.

Bring us into your project early and we can help establish what's possible. We’ll work with your team to develop a practical heating and cooling solution around the school, site and programme.

Depth of capability, delivery for schools without compromise

In house ground array design and permitting

Get a ground array designed around the school’s energy requirements, available space and ground conditions. Collectively our specialists have decades of experience designing DfE compliant ground source heat pump solutions. Our teams also provide a managed service for Mining Remediation Authority and Environment Agency permit applications.

In house plant room design and specification

Bring the ground source system together with a plant room designed around your project, whether a packaged plant room or bespoke solution is needed. We design a compliant plant room to meet the site’s heating and cooling requirements, working closely with your mechanical and electrical teams to make integration straightforward.

Thermal Response Tests and Ground Array Installation

We can deliver the complete ground array installation, from initial Thermal Response Tests using our specialist test rigs to using our in-house drilling operation for ground array installation. Our specialist teams take care of drilling, headering and trenching, turning the ground array design into a working energy source for the school. Keeping these elements together reduces interfaces and gives your project team one specialist partner for the ground works.

Plant room installation and remote monitoring

We complete the mechanical and electrical installation within the plant room. Bringing design, specification and installation together helps create a coordinated system and makes responsibilities clearer for your project team. We also offer a monitored solution for end-user peace of mind.

We are very excited by the new innovative heating system. It is wonderful for Marshland to be at the forefront of new technology. At the same time, it will save us money on our heating bills and, most importantly, support our quest to help combat climate change.
