Meet the Buyer - Delivering Scotland’s largest ground source heat pump system

Help deliver Scotland’s largest networked heat pump project.

Let’s change how homes are heated in Renfrewshire

The UK’s heating system is stuck in the past, costing people and the planet too much. Kensa is changing that. This summer, we’re working with Renfrewshire Council to bring clean, affordable, zero-carbon heating to 180 council-owned flats.

We're building Scotland's largest networked heat pump system by replacing ageing gas boilers, and we're looking for contractors to help us build it.

You can now sign up for our online Meet the Buyer event, where you can learn more about the project and understand how to participate in the procurement process.

The kind of partners we're looking for

We’re looking for skilled, reliable teams to help deliver ground-breaking heating upgrades that work better for everyone. Here’s a quick summary of the work involved:

Groundworks and trenching
This includes digging and preparing ground-side pipework, laying and welding pipes using electrofusion, installing manifolds, and carrying out pressure and dynamic testing right up to the riser base.

Riser installation
Running the main riser pipework throughout the building, including fitting insulation (lagging), clips, and connectors. You might also be asked to core through concrete floors, unless that’s already covered by another contractor.

Internal fit-out
Taking out old heating systems and installing new Kensa heat pumps and hot water cylinders on a flat-by-flat basis.

Additional services
This could include landscaping, system commissioning, and input from specialists like commercial plumbers, GSHP/ASHP installers (ground source and air source heat pump experts), gas engineers, and heating and plumbing professionals.
